The Brethern: Inside the Supreme Court

Book number 4 this year.

Rating: Essential Read

Wow. This book was well worth the time spent reading it. It presents a marvelous inside view into the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Written by two reporters for the Washington Post, Bob Woodward (co-author of All the Presidents Men) and Scott Armstrong, it is both well written and well researched.

Specifically the book chronicles the 1969 through 1975 Supreme court terms. During this time frame many important segregation cases, abortion cases, and government juristiction cases were decided.

This book served to remind me that I would like to think people in positions of power would make objective decisions and not be swayed by personal opinions, emotions, or outside influences, but they are. Don't ever forget that.
