As if you can't tell from the title, I've been working on the house lately. We have been in our house a year now, and we have been living with a 1960s bathroom that no matter how much you clean it up, it still just feels old and smells old. It was time for a remodel.
After much blood, sweat, and tears, phase 1 of the bathroom remodel has been completed, and the specter of hidden leaking piping has been (almost) vanquished.
I hate plumbing. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. But lately my hatred for plumbing has diminished a little thanks to new technology. The kind gentleman at The Home Depot showed me these wonderful little plumbing adapters made by SharkBite. No torch, flux, solder, tape, glue, cursing, screaming, leaking, stomping, yelling, or flipping out. Just slide on. My family has found them well worth their ~$5 price tag.
Overall Bathroom Project:
Phase 1 - Tear out old (400lb) cast iron tub and put in new shower
Phase 2 - Tear out old stand-up shower (there was both a stand-up shower and a tub in the same bathroom), sink, toilet, cabinets
Phase 3 - Install new bathroom fan
Phase 4 - Lay down new slate floor (with both cork and hardy board underlayment)
Phase 5 - Repair drywall, texture, and paint
Phase 6 - Install new vanity
Phase 7 - Install new lighting
I am hoping to accomplish this before my big hike at the end of May. We'll see.
