Toleak Point

I feel like the opening line of my past five blog posts should be that I have been busy lately and haven't had time to blog. Well...it's the truth.

Now that the wounds from the mosquitoes have healed from last Summer's excursion and their annoying ways almost forgotten, it was time to go on another hike. A hike to a place where I personally guaranteed the crew that there will be no mosquitoes. The destination was Toleak (Toe-lee-ack) Point on the Olympic Peninsula. It is one of the great coastal hikes in Washington State.
It was a two day, one night trip. Only 12 miles round-trip with very little elevation gain.

Not everyone who wanted to make the hike could, but 12 of us did meet at the trail-head that Saturday morning.

Dana and his lucky hat.

Wyatt and I on the beach.

Hiking.

The view from camp.

Dana's and Kirk's catch.

Shawn's wine (Januik, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005) stole the show.

Wyatt and I grilled up beef kabobs for dinner.

Wyatt decanting the wine.

It was a fabulous trip and the weather was perfect.

Here are all of my pictures and Wyatt's.

Question of the Day: Is a hike really a hike without Crazy Phil?

My name is Phil said...

Subquestion of the day: did anyone do something stupid (cliff-jumping, bear-smacking, beehive-poking, fire-hopping, torrent-fording) and almost kill himself?
